The new laser-cut window section for the Stern and side galleries, 9 panes in each window, the correct ones in scale 1:48. Also 3D printed decorations loosely placed. |
I had not been satisfied with the original 4 paned windows, but was unable to obtain the correct ones due to breakages. It took me three years ( 2020 to 2023) to finally find a person who was able to do the correct type, 9 panes in each window, and cut out in pearwood. This person was Neil Woods who makes scale model laser-cut wooden items and 3D printed resin items for model builders. He resides in Yorkshire. His website is www.woodysmodelworks.co.uk I cannot priase him highly enough, he had not produced items to this scale before so it was a learning curve for him, but he succeeded with the results as shown on this page. |

The windows came in two sections, both laser-cut from thin pearwood, firstly the windows section with 9 panes followed by the outer piece which went on top of the first. The photograph on the left shows the two sections, with clear acrylic plastic sheet behind to act as the "glass" being installed on the re-vamped stern section. This meant removing the former items and having to re-build the section to take the windows.Similarly for the side galleries. |

The newly completed sternworks, now correct, with the adornments, or Stern decorations consisting of balusters - separating the windows; double scrolls on each side next to the top windows, the two human representations, one on each side of the centre windows each one standing on a half-scroll, with two further small double scrolls one on each side of the bottom windows. Above at the top the "Trophy Panel" which sits between the top "rope style decoration along the top edge and sides, and a further decorated section above the top windows. |

This view shows the new Stern gallery and decorations together with the Port Side Gallery. I have had to compromise a bit in that the side galleries should be curved slightly, however it was going to prove too difficult to re-do that part on each side so I left it as is - it is 98% correct, so I am satisfied with the result. In this photo the three Stern Lanterns still have to be fitted when 3D printed. |

This is the completed Figurehead, also printed in 3D resin and painted for me by an Artist near Henley, in Oxfordshire, who specialises in miniature model painting. He has done a great job. |
